They’re tacky and probably offensive to some people, but fake bull testicles on automobiles have become the latest target of Florida lawmakers. If this bill becomes law, drivers displaying Truck Nutz or similar fake bull balls could be fined $60.
It sounds like the Florida senate should concentrate their efforts on more important issues, such as global warming. Hey Florida! Wake Up! Your state is going to be under water soon, and you’re worried about whether a truck has a pair of gonads hanging from the trailer hitch.

I have been looking for something to replace my old clock radio with something that would allow me to wake up to any radio station or music that I wanted. Last week, I discovered Chumby. Chumby is a small, soft-sided device device with a 3.5 inch touchscreen. It connects to my home network via wi-fi and I can listen to any streaming radio stations or listen to any songs (non-DRM tracks only) by connecting my iPod to one of the USB ports on the back. It works fairly well and can be modified because the code is open source and linux-based. Chumby has only been available to the public for a few months, so there’s a few bugs that have to be worked out, but all in all, I’m pretty pleased with this clock radio replacement.

Just when I thought every big idea had already been thought of, I come across this one: an indoor ski area with a chairlift and real snow… in Dubai. It’s called Ski Dubai and is located inside of the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. They actually advertise 85 meters of vertical drop (255 ft.). I’m guessing there’s no double black diamond runs at this ski “resort”. I’m also guessing they won’t be having gay ski week here, either.

There’s a lot of snow on Spokane’s South Hill. Last Saturday, there was about a foot of snow on the ground and that night 17 more inches of fresh snow fell in a 24 hour period. After we barely got all that snow cleared, another 6 inches of snow fell. Then on Wednesday, 7 more inches of snow fell. I believe this officially qualifies as too much damn snow.
Yesterday, I took refuge from the snow in Seattle. I had to fly over since all the passes were closed (because the Cascades got too much damn snow, plus 4 more feet). I will be back in Spokane in a few days (with hopefully not much more snow accumulation).

If you’re wondering why I’ve been so quiet lately, it’s because I’ve been working on one of the biggest sites I’ve ever helped launch: www.pchquiz4cash.com. The site is written using PHP/MySQL and offers quizzes which users can answer questions and win cash if they ace the quiz. The site was launched at Christmas and if you visit the site you can see how many people have taken quizzes. As of this post, it’s nearing 300,000!
That’s the good news. The even better news is that I launched this site not as a small employee of some large corporation, but as part of a business partnership. If all goes well, I will be able to say that I am successful in business and don’t have to depend on working for someone else for my livelihood.

Red. It’s one of the colors you think of during the holiday season… red ribbons, red lights, bank account in the red. But why Christmas in the Red Zone… and what is the “Red Zone” anyway?
I often refer to the rural part of Washington state between Seattle and Spokane (or between Olympia and Portland, OR) as the Red Zone because during the last two presidential elections, the rural areas voted Republican and are also areas not known to be gay-friendly. Well, my parents live in the Red Zone… 70 miles north of Spokane and that’s where I’m spending Christmas.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Christmas with my family. But with the upcoming election in 2008, I can’t help but have on my mind that I will be in a county where 63% of the people voted for George W. Bush and nearly 70% of the people voted for anti-gay Republican Cathy McMorris. Not all of those 63-70% of voters in 2004 made their choices based on anti-gay bias, but unfortunately anti-gay bias does still exist in Northeast Washington.
Despite all this, I will still enjoy myself and consume my share of eggnog and cookies with my loving and accepting family.

My decision has been made and I have chosen to move to Spokane by the end of October. There are things I’m looking forward to in Spokane, and things I’m going to miss about Seattle. Here’s my list:
Things I’ll miss about Seattle:
- Living on Lake Washington
- Being close to Vancouver, BC and Portland
- Friends I’ve made in the past 2 1/2 years
- Eating at Bing’s, Jamjuree and Broadway Grill
- Whole Foods Market
- Kayaking on Lake Union
- Bald Eagles in the Washington Park Arboretum
- Being close to my brother & sister-in-law
- Mild weather
- Shopping in downtown Seattle
Things I’m looking forward to in Spokane:
- Living in a quiet single-family home on the South Hill
- Still being close to Seattle, Portland and Vancouver, BC
- Being close to my good friends in Spokane
- Eating at Europa, Wild Sage and Herbal Essence Cafe
- Rocket Market
- Kayaking on the Columbia River and area lakes
- Living close to Manito Park
- Living a block away from my sister and her family
- Great downhill skiing
- Saving money so I can afford to buy things when I go shopping in downtown Seattle
I will continue my participation with groups such as Ski Buddies and OutVentures in Seattle, plus I will still have business in Seattle and will visit often.

For several weeks (if not months), I’ve been thinking about my living situation here in Seattle. I no longer have an office or corporate job tying me to the Seattle area and have been asking myself the question: is it time to leave Seattle?
Fundamentally, there is nothing wrong with Seattle. In fact, I’ve grown to like the city a little more in the past year. What it’s coming down to for me is mainly the cost of living here. Without a regular paycheck, it can get expensive to live here, not to mention the cost of buying real estate in this area. I also have opportunities in Spokane, both for business and social growth. Over the next few weeks, I will be giving it serious thought.

Sentator Larry Craig (R - Idaho) joins a growing list of conservative lawmakers who have been caught engaging in sex acts with someone of the same gender. Larry Craig was arrested for “Lewd Conduct” at the Minneapolis Aiport in June, 2007. You can read the police report here.
Ok… if you’re a conservative lawmaker and you’re in the closet, get the hell out of the closet and slam the door behind you… all this sneaking around is making the rest of us in the gay community look like a bunch of sleazy sex perverts.

Today was my last day at Klir Technologies. It was announced yesterday that Klir would be closing its doors. Honestly, I was ready for a change. Don’t get me wrong, I was treated fairly and treated with respect at Klir and I will miss working with some good people. For me, I now have the opportunity to focus on my own business and get some rest and relaxation for the remainder of the summer. I hope to now call the 40 hour work week a thing of the past.
